Athili Sathi Babu (Ravi Teja) is a petty thief in Hyderabad. One day it so happens that a small girl Swati arrives in a wooden box claiming that Sathi Babu is her father. However, the girl was the real daughter of a tough IPS officer Vikram Singh Rathod. How Sathi Babu accepts the child as his own daughter and avenges the injustice done to his look alike officer forms the rest of the story.
Talents Display :
Ravi Teja is simply superb in his dual role as IPS officer and Athili Sathi Babu. The mannerism of Ravi Teja as “jintata” is the favourite of the masses. He further looks energetic in dance and stunt sequences.
Heroine Anushka steals the show with her impressive figure. She got ample footage at the end of the movie and she proved herself not only as a heroine for number shake but for the overall effect of the movie.
Ajay who hitherto played the small roles yet in the forefront is pitted against the main hero as a sturdy villain in this film. Projected in an attire that is certainly larger than life size, Ajay steals the show in the climax.
Rajiv Kanakala appears as an upright police inspector but as the victim of the villain. But towards the conclusion., he emerges as a clean character that justifies the climas.
Brahmanandam has a powerful footage opposite the hero as his friend. The voluptuous characterization of Ruthika is impressive. Raghu Babu did perform his typical juxtaposition role to the villains. Coming to Prakash Raj, he played his role with élan, but the same is being cut short abruptly.
Technical Stuff
Story-screenplay-Direction: It has close resemblance to the blockbuster of 1976 – Don – considering the dual characterization of the hero coupled with the child sentiment.
Direction:
First half of the film is completely unclear. The screenplay confuses the audiences and leaves them with question mark. The second half narrates the story clearly and clarifies the doubts. The emotional element in SS Rajamouli’s films is once again seen here.
Direction of the film is fairly well brought up. Comedy has come alive all through the movie. The jinthaka mannerism ( the dharuvu scene) is going to click well with the audiences.
However, it is equally disappointing that the characterization of the hero (police officer), the villain is not being established properly.
The songs presented a feeble presentation, but for the last number.
Comedy is the main asset of the movie. Ravi Teja (as Sathi Babu from Athili entangled in a fight with ladies is simply superb and first of its kind in Telugu film industry.)
Fist half of the film is slow and boring, while the second half brings real tempo for the film. No novelty in story line, but the narration part makes little difference.
The film can get equal response from all the centers.
